You stare at the Witch, waiting for an answer. You tell her that in no uncertain terms will you do any more of her tests until you get a straight answer on why she ended up here, or how.

“She just…” she begins, but a tear falls down her cheek. She wipes it away and states, matter-of-factly, “She just wants to be loved by her parents.”

You look at her, confused.

“Her parents, and their abuse and neglect, is why she ended up here in the first place.”

The Witch stares at you, then takes the ring out of her pocket—the same one you found. She throws it onto the table and it lands, magically transforming into a shield.

“This is what you will need to take on her father.”

You look at the shield on the table. You look at the Witch. You ask her if this is really the right thing to do—to kill her father, leaving her trapped here in agony and loneliness. You explain that it didn’t work out for the Child who escaped his own prison in Purgatory.

“You’ll be helping her more than anything, child,” the Witch states with a tone of arrogance. “You’ll be freeing her. As you kill the father, my magics will force her to ascend, to move on.”

She begins to gather things she will need. She looks over at you. “We will need another thing, though. One last item. Sand of the Labyrinth. I need it to open the Ascension gates.”

You tell her to get everything she needs ready. You will head out to find the sand.
