The Gold Mines are located in the Shadow Planes and serve as a mid-game area where players can farm for currency such as Gold, Gold Dust, and Shards. Normally, players would need to hunt down Celestials for Gold Dust and Shards or disenchant enchanted items to obtain Gold Dust.

However, this may not be sufficient for mid-game crafting activities like Alchemy and other game mechanics that require Gold Dust and Shards.

When fighting in this area, the default drops include:

• 500–1,000 Gold, Gold Dust, and Shards.
• A 1 in 1,000 chance, up to a maximum of 15% based on your looting skill, to acquire a unique item.

There is also a 1 in 1,000 chance for an event to trigger that will run for one hour. This event sends a global message encouraging other players to join and farm for currencies and unique items. When active, the event features:

• Double the Gold, Gold Dust, and Shards drop rate.
• A 1 in 500 chance, up to a maximum of 30% of your looting skill, to obtain a unique item.
