Before Completion Text

The night is dark, the stars are bright, and the old ruins of the brothel where Trixi—the Madam—once ruled lie silent and dormant, empty and devoid of life. Not a whisper stirs the air as you slumber in the night on a makeshift bed.

Your dreams are vivid—tantalizing, almost erotic. You can see clearly through the eyes of a stranger. You can feel everything: every touch, every kiss, every moment. You can’t wake yourself from it, as if you’re trapped—forced to enact carnal desires with another man.

A man you recognize. A story you’ve seen before.

The Lonely Red Hawk Soldier. You know this story. The Child was his lover—he bedded the soldier, and in the heat of their desire, the Federation invaded. The Child led them to slaughter. They would have been fine if the damned soldier had been at his post instead of tangled up in his tent.

The rage wakes you—sweating. Stiff. An unfortunate side effect of reliving a memory that isn’t even yours.

The darkness is broken only by starlight spilling through holes in the roof of the old brothel. You lie there for a moment, then you hear a voice:

“You keep poking around.”

You sit up immediately, only to see a figure in the shadows—still, unmoving. You reach for your weapons, but with the snap of two fingers in the dark, they vanish.

“You keep bothering me.”

A chill runs down your spine.

“But I could use your help.”
