Before Completion Text
You head through the planes of Hell into the Land of Shadows. You search through the wrecked ship and find exactly what you’re looking for. You move to leave, then stop before stepping off the wreck. You sit on the deck and stare at the item, watching it glisten beneath the gray skies.
“It’s all too much, isn’t it?”
You look over and see a child—the Child of Shade, the child of the Shade Lord. You tell him you wonder if you are making a mistake and should just stop, set up shop somewhere in a small town, and bury your head in the sand.
“But you already started something.”
What, what have I started? you ask him. All I did was expose what was already there in the shadows. You explain that you have no control over… anything.
“No? Do you not have control over your own fate, child? Whether you keep going or not?”
You look at the child and explain, no. He pulls the strings of everyone, everything.
“Then who’s pulling his strings?”
