You've heard stories about the land and the creaking doors that opened. They claimed that evil had escaped into the world. Someone who was trapped in their own mental pain and torment.
You've heard the stories whispered in the darkness of pubs and inns. You've heard the children's stories about the darkness that roams the land, eternally restless and with no sight of peace to rest the tired eyes.
Every night, you dream of the lips, the kiss, the feeling of security, but it all fades and is replaced with the pain of a thousand shards of glass piercing your mind. You can see through someone else's eyes into a world you are unfamiliar with.
The shadows of tomorrow wash over you, and you awaken to the light of the present. A feverish dream that transported you from one location to another. A place where love once flourished, but no longer exists. You sit up and look around. The man in robes, clutching a bag of dice, appears before you.
"You dream this night of a prison, a memory, a trap." He pauses, and you can feel his eyes on you from behind the dark robe hood.
"There is a prayer and a broken piece of the past, which tells the story of a broken heart. Find them for me, child. I'll give you something for The Witch."
He is there, and then he isn't. On the ground is a single six-sided die whose face reads two.
