“All that’s left, child, is the typical top hat and scarf.”
You remember how your father helped you build a snowman for the first time. How he helped you pack the snowballs and stack them together, bigger on the bottom and smaller as you go up.
He lifted you up, and you put the hat on top of the snowman’s head. It felt so magical. That night, you sat around the fireplace and shared in warm apple cider as the snow fell over the fields.
“Are you done living in the past yet?” The Poet snaps.
You look over at him.
“Go get the top hat and scarf!”
